The Super Cub 1987. The bush strips.
Christian Strebel starts flying in East Africa in his own Piper Super Cub, a two-seat taildragger, into bush airfields and airports across the region.
1996. Yellow Wings.
Christian incorporates Yellow Wings Air Services in Nairobi.
1998. The first certificate.
Yellow Wings receives its first air operator certificate, for the Super Cub. The first regular customers are agro-chemical companies, whose sales representatives need to reach remote farms. In April a four-seat Cessna 182 joins, and the flying spreads from farms to charter work across a much larger region.
2003. Room for six.
The first of two piston-engined Cessna 206s arrives. With four aircraft of two to six seats, Yellow Wings moves into the commuter market.
Ibrahim Sebit, Head of Quality 2004. Quality.
Ibrahim Sebit joins as Head of Quality. He's still here, still auditing every department.
2010. Turbine.
Yellow Wings takes delivery of its first Cessna Grand Caravan, new from the factory.
On a lodge strip, March 2015 2011. Two.
A second Caravan.
5Y-ELO, April 2019 2019. Three.
A third Caravan.
2021. Carbon neutral.
Yellow Wings starts offsetting every litre of Jet A-1 through Wildlife Works' Kasigau Corridor REDD+ project, and becomes one of the first private charter airlines to go carbon neutral.
Kibra United, June 2022 2022. Kibra United.
We sponsor the away kit of Kibra United, the football club our Head of Quality helped found in Kibera.
Wilson, August 2023 
Captain Karan Dhanjal 2023. Four, and twenty-five.
A fourth Caravan joins, and the last piston aircraft have gone. Yellow Wings marks 25 years. Karan Dhanjal, who joined in 2018 as an intern, becomes a captain in October. Randy Shiyukah becomes Chief Pilot in November.
Saikeri, October 2024 2024. Electric, one day.
An MOU with Surf Air Mobility on electric powertrains for the Caravan. In October, the team spends a day with 200 children cleaning up the village of Saikeri, Kajiado West.
In the simulator 2025. The simulator, and Arusha.
Pilots start regular simulator checks, beyond what the regulations require. In October, the first direct flights from Nairobi to Arusha, without the customs stop at Kilimanjaro.
