Some of the shortcuts we know.

Most itineraries in East Africa go back through Nairobi between parks. Many don't need to. Here are four we fly often.

The routes

  • Kilimanjaro at sunrise above the clouds

    • Wilson → Arusha, about 50 min.
    • No stop at Kilimanjaro for customs any more.

    • Mara → Kisumu, 35 min. Customs.
    • Kisumu → Tanzania, 45 min.
    • Then any strip in the Serengeti.

    • Mara → Mombasa. Customs.
    • Mombasa → Zanzibar.
    • Plains before lunch. Beach by tea.
