The short version
Air-ambulance jets need long, paved runways. Many patients are nowhere near one. We fly with local air-ambulance providers to evacuate patients from remote and difficult strips, and bring them to a hospital, or to a larger airport where a jet is waiting. We provide the aircraft, the two pilots and the reach. The medical team comes from the air-ambulance provider.
Two pilots fly every evacuation, as they fly every other Yellow Wings flight. We've flown since 1998 without an accident.

How it works
- 01.
Call the 24-hour line. Tell us where the patient is and the nearest strip, if you know it.
- 02.
We check the strip, the weather and the daylight, and agree the plan with the air-ambulance provider.
- 03.
The crew and aircraft leave Wilson.
- 04.
The patient is handed over at the hospital, or to the air-ambulance jet at a larger airport.
Plan before you need it
Lodges, camps, farms and project sites can agree an evacuation plan with us in advance: the strip, its coordinates and condition, the contacts, and where patients go. Then the call at night is shorter.
Daylight
Most bush strips have no lights. Night flights are possible only to lit airfields, so a patient at an unlit strip at night may have to wait until first light. We'll tell you straight away.
