Every Yellow Wings flight uses the same aircraft, the Cessna Grand Caravan, with 12 seats and two pilots. What changes is the job: a lodge strip in the Mara, a site visit in Turkana, a patient at a strip with no lights, an inspection pattern, a camera pass over the Rift.

Short, unpaved, high and hot: most of the strips we use are at least two of those, and plenty are all four. Wilson Airport itself sits at about 1,700 m. We've been learning the rest since 1998.
